For immediate r e l e a s e CONDITION OF M3MBHE 3AESS H LEADING CI TIES The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of 631 r e p o r t i n g member "banks i n leading c i t i e s as of November l 4 shows decreases f o r the week of $83,000,000 in loans and d i s c o u n t s , of $14,000,000 in investments, of $96,000,000 i n borrowings from Federal reserve banks, and of $19,000,000 i n Government d e p o s i t s , and an i n crease of $64,000,000 i n net demand d e p o s i t s . Loans on stocks and bonds, including U. S. Government o b l i g a t i o n s , were $2:4,000,000 below the November J t o t a l a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks, a reduction of ^100,000,000 being r e p o r t e d by member banks in the Now York d i s t r i c t and of #9,000,000 by banks i n the Boston d i s t r i c t , while r e p o r t i n g banks in the San Francisco d i s t r i c t reported an increase of $9,000,000. "All o t h e r " loans and d i s counts i n c r e a s e d $6,000,000 in the San Francisco d i s t r i c t and $5,000,000 in the Cleveland d i s t r i c t , and declined $6,000,000 and $5,000,000, r e s p e c t i v e l y , i n the Chicago and A t l a n t a d i s t r i c t s , a l l r e p o r t i n g banks showing a small i n c r e a s e f o r the week. Holdings of U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s declined $l6,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t and a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks, while holdings of other bonds, stocks and s e c u r i t i e s increased $10,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t and $2,000,000 a t a l l reporting banks, and declined $6,000,000 i n the San Francisco d i s t r i c t . Net demand d e p o s i t s , which a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks were $6^,000,000 above the November J t o t a l , increased $33,000,000 at r e p o r t i n g banks in the San Francisco d i s t r i c t , $18,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t , $10,000,000 i n the Cleveland d i s t r i c t , $8,000,000 in the Dallas d i s t r i c t and $7,000,000 in the Kansas City d i s t r i c t . Time deposits increased $8,000,000 i n the Now York d i s t r i c t and $6,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
