CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER 3A1HS III 90 LEADING CITIES
The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member
banks i n 90 l e a d i n g c i t i e s on May 24 shows i n c r e a s e s f o r the week of $44,000,000 i n
net demand d e p o s i t s , $7,000,000 i n time d e p o s i t s nnd $78,000,000 i n r e s e r v e "balances
with Federal r e s e r v e banks, and decreases of $17,000,000 i n loans and investments
and $7,000,000 i n borrowings from Federal r e s e r v e banks.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s declined $74,000,000 a t r e p o r t i n g member banks i n the Mew
York d i s t r i c t and $76,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks, "All o t h e r " loans i n creased $7,000,000 i n the Hew York d i s t r i c t and a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks,
Holdings of United S t a t e s Government s e c u r i t i e s inc re ase d $31,000,000 i n the
Chicago d i s t r i c t and $29,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks, and declined
$9*000,000 i n the S t . Louis d i s t r i c t . Holdings of o t h e r s e c u r i t i e s increased
$11,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t , $9,000,000 in the S t . Louis d i s t r i c t and
$23,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks*
Borrowings of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks from Federal r e s e r v e banks aggregated $78,000,000 on„May 24, the p r i n c i p a l change f o r the week being a reduction of
$7,000,000 a t the Federal Reserve Bank of New York,
Licensed member banks formerly included i n the c ondition statement of r e p o r t ing member banks i n 101 l e a d i n g c i t i e s , but not now included i n the weekly s t a t e ment, had t o t a l loans and investments of $735,000,000 end n e t demand, time and
Government d e p o s i t s of $678,000,000 on May 24, compared with $712,000,000 and
$661,000,000, r e s p e c t i v e l y , on May 17.
