CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES
The condition statement of weekly reporting member "banks in leading cities
shows the following principal changes for the week ended May 10: Decreases of
$$1,000,000 in loans, $47,000,000 in demand deposits adjusted, $68,000,000 in
demand deposits credited to domestic banks, and $64,000,000 in borrowings.
Commercial, industrial, and agricultural loans decreased $66,000,000 in New
York City, $16,000,000 in Chicago, and increased $9,000,000 in the Philadelphia
District; there was a net decrease of $55,000,000 at all reporting member banks.
"Other loans" increased $30,000,000.
Holdings of Treasury bills decreased $9,000,000 at all reporting member banks;
the principal changes were decreases of $47,000,000 in Chicago, $26,000,000 in New
York City, and $24,000,000 in the Cleveland District, and increases of $28,000,000
in the Kansas City District and $26,000,000 in the New York District outside of
New York City. Holdings of Treasury certificates of indebtedness increased
$27,000,000 in the San Francisco District and a total of $9,000,000 at all reporting member banks. Holdings of Treasury notes increased $24,000,000 in the
Cleveland District and decreased $20,000,000 in the San Francisco District; there
was a net decrease of $20,000,000 at all reporting member banks.
Demand deposits adjusted decreased $158,000,000 in New York City and
$41,000,000 in the Cleveland District, and increased $44,000,000 in the Kansas City
District, $41,000,000 in the Chicago District, and $24,000,000 each in the Atlanta
and St. Louis districts.
Borrowings decreased $52,000,000 in New York City and increased $24,000,000
in the Cleveland District.
