Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System z March 9 > 1942 Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks in Leading Cities The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in 101 leading' cities shows the following principal changes for the week ended March !{.: In-* creases of $103,000,000 in demand deposits-adjusted, $113^000,000 in United States Government deposits, and $2)2,000,000 in reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks. Commercial, industrial, and agricultural loans increased $10,000,000 in the San Francisco District but showed no change for the week at all reporting member banks, Holdings of Treasury bills increased $$1,000,000 in the Chicago District and declined $20,000,000 in the San Francisco District and $7,000,000 at all reporting member banks. Holdings of United States Government bonds increased $25,000,000 in New York City and $26,000,000 at all reporting member banks• Holdings of r, 0ther securities" declined $18,000,000 in the San Francisco District, $17,000,000 in New York City, and $26,000,000 at all reporting member banks, Demand deposits-adjusted increased $113,000,000 in New York City, $41,000,000 in the Philadelphia District and $103,000,000 at all reporting member banks, and declined $42,000,000 in the Chicago District and $35,000,000 in the San Francisco District, United States Government deposits increased $34,000,000 in the Chicago District,$26,000,000 in the San Francisco District, $24,000,000 in New York" City, and $113,000,000 at all reporting member banks• Deposits credited zo domestic banks declined $68,000,000 in New York City and increased somewhat in most of the other districts; all reporting member banks showed a net decrease of $7,000,000.
