CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BAMS IN LEADING PITIES
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading c i t i e s
sho/s the following p r i n c i p a l changes f o r the week ended February 29: Increases of
0192 million in loans adjusted and : 22U million in United States Government deposits.
Commercial and i n d u s t r i a l loans increased $91 million a t a l l reporting member
banks.* the p r i n c i p a l changes were increases of $120 million in New York City and $12
million in t h e Atlanta D i s t r i c t , and decreases of #19 million in Chicago, Slit million in the San Francisco D i s t r i c t , and $13 million in the Cleveland D i s t r i c t .
Changes according to industry appear in another press r e l e a s e . "Other" loans i n creased $83 million, of which $58 million was in New York City.
Holdings of United States Government s e c u r i t i e s decreased $123 million with a l l
categories showing decreases, Holdings oi "other" s e c u r i t i e s increased |3.8 million
in New York City and a t o t a l of # 1 million at a l l reporting member banks.
Demand deposits adjusted increased $158 million in the Cleveland D i s t r i c t , $81
million in New York City, and $1*9 million in the Chicago D i s t r i c t outside of Chicago,
but they decreased $105 million in the San Francisco D i s t r i c t , $1*9 million in
Chicago, and $1*6 million in the New York D i s t r i c t outside of New York City; the net
increase was $90 million a t a l l reporting member banks. Time deposits increased
$38 m i l l i o n .
Borrowings from Federal Reserve Banks decreased $lt9 million and borrowings from
others increased $l61t m i l l i o n . Loans to banks increased $111* million,
