Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks i n 101 Leading C i t i e s
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks i n 101 leading c i t i e s
shows the following principal changes for the week ended March 153 Decreases of
$48,000,000 i n loans to brokers and dealers i n s e c u r i t i e s and 0375,000,000 i n holdings of Treasury notes, and increases of $448,000,000 i n holdings of U. S. Government bonds, $127,000,000 i n balances with domestic banks, $57,000,000 i n demanddeposits-adjusted and $139,000,000 i n deposits credited to domestic banks.
Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l and agricultural loans increased $21,000,000 at a l l r e porting member banks. Loans to brokers and dealers i n s e c u r i t i e s decreased
$43,000,000 i n New York City and $48,000,000 at mi reporting member banks.
Holdings of Treasury b i l l s increased $33,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t ,
vl7,000,000 i n the Dallas d i s t r i c t , and $3ip00,000 at a l l reporting member banks.
Holdings of Treasury notes decreased i n every d i s t r i c t , the principal decreases being $97,000,000 i n New York City, $78,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t and
1)45,000,000 i n the Richmond d i s t r i c t , and the total decrease being $375,000,000,
Holdings of U. S. Government bonds increased i n nearly a l l d i s t r i c t s , the principal
increases being $197,000,000 i n New York City, $77,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t
and $49,000,000 i n the Richmond d i s t r i c t , and the t o t a l increase being $448,000,000.
Obligations guaranteed by the United S t a t e s Government decreased $24,000,000 i n
Hew York City and #7,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks. Holdings of "Other
s e c u r i t i e s " decreased $6,000,000,
Demand deposits-adjusted increased $39,000,000 i n the San Francisco d i s t r i c t and
$57,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks. Tine deposits decreased $18,000,000 i n
New York City and $26,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks.
Deposits credited t o domestic banks increased $52,000,000 i n New York City,
y40,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t , and $139,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks*
Deposits credited to f o r e i g n banks increased v^pOO,000 i n New York City,
Borrowings of weekly reporting member banks amounted t o $1,000,000 on March 15,
