Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks i n Leading C i t i e s
The condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks in 101 leading c i t i e s
shows the following p r i n c i p a l changes f o r the week ended February ci5: Increases of
$1*26,000,000 in holdings of United States Government bonds and $l*3l*,000,000 in
United S t a t e s Government d e p o s i t s , and decreases of $393,000,000 in reserve balances
with Federal Reserve Banks, $21*9,000,000 in demand d e p o s i t s - a d j u s t e d , and
$211,000,000 in d e p o s i t s c r e d i t e d t o domestic banks.
Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l and a g r i c u l t u r a l loans increased $21;,000,00 in New
York City and $13,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks.
Holdings of United S t a t e s Government bonds increased in a l l d i s t r i c t s , the
p r i n c i p a l increases being $188,000,000 in New York City, $59,000,000 in the Chicago
D i s t r i c t , and $35,000,000 i n t h e Cleveland D i s t r i c t ; the t o t a l increase at a l l r e porting member banns was $1*26,000,000. Holdings of Treasury..bills declined
$30,000,000 in the San. Francisco D i s t r i c t and $3^,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member
banks, and increased $18,000,000 i n the Chicago D i s t r i c t . Holdings of "Other sec u r i t i e s " declined $19,000,0u0 i n t h e San Francisdo D i s t r i c t and $18,000,000 a t
a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks*
Demand d e p o s i t s - a d j u s t e d declined $151*000,000 in New York City,$27*000,-000
i n the Boston D i s t r i c t , $26,000,000 in the San Francisco D i s t r i c t , $2^,000,000 i n ,
the Philadelphia D i s t r i c t , and $21+9,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member -banks, United
States Government deposits increased $2)8,000,000 .in New York City* $9l|.*000,000 in
the Chicago D i s t r i c t , and $i|.3U,OGO,000 at a l l reporting member banks.
Deposits c r e d i t e d to domestic banks declined $55,000,000 in New York City,
$30,000,000 in the Chicago D i s t r i c t , $2^,000,000 in the Philadelphia D i s t r i c t ,
and $211,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks.
