The c o n d i t i o n statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks i n 101 leading c i t i e s
on ularch 10 shows i n c r e a s e s f o r the week of $83,000,000 i n t o t a l l o a n s and i n v e s t ments, ,i>l4S,000,000 xn demand deposits—adjusted, $39,000,000 i n Government deposits
and 171,000,000 i n r e s e r v e balances with Federal Reserve banks, and decreases of
$20,000,000 i n t i n e d e p o s i t s , $72,000,000 i n d e p o s i t s c r e d i t e d t o domestic banks
and $38,000,000 i n balances with domestic bonks.
Loans t o brokers and d e a l e r s i n Mew York City i n c r e a s e d $36,000,000, leans to
brokers and d e a l e r s o u t s i d e New York i n c r e a s e d -33,000,000, and loans on s e c u r i t i e s
to o t h e r s (except banks) declined $2,000,000. Holdings of acceptances end commerc i a l paper bought d e c l i n e d 88,000,000, r e a l e s t a t e loans i n c r e a s e d 33,000,000, and
loans to banks declined §5,000,000. "Other l e a n s " i n c r e a s e d ^37,000,000 i n the
New York d i s t r i c t and -'62,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks.
Holdings of United S t a t e s Government d i r e c t o b l i g a t i o n s declined $46,000,000
i n the^New York d i s t r i c t and §43,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings
of o b l i g a t i o n s f u l l y guaranteed by the United S t a t e s Government d e c l i n e d
$5,000,000. Holdings of "Other s e c u r i t i e s " declined -$8,000,000.
Demand d e p o s i t s - a d j u s t e d i n c r e a s ed #94,000,000 i n t h e New York d i s t r i c t ,
$26,000,000 i n the San Francisco d i s t r i c t , 015,000,000 i n the Kansas City d i s t r i c t ,

Time d e p o s i t s declined $13,000,000 i n t h e New York d i s t r i c t , 38,000,000 i n the San
