H.4.2 BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM (For Immediate Release) March 12, 1952 CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER B A M S IN LEADING CITIES The condition statement of weekly reporting member hanks in leading cities shows the following principal changes for the week ended March 5- Decreases of $174 million in holdings of United States Government securities and $590 million in United States Government deposits, and an increase of $259 million in demand deposits credited to domestic banks* Commercial, industrial, and agricultural loans decreased in six districts and increased in the other six, resulting in a net decrease of $2 million at all reporting member banks; the principal changes were decreases of $29 million in the San Francisco District and $15 million in the Dallas District, and an increase of $39 million in New York City. The changes according to industry and purpose are available in another press release# "Other loans" decreased $15 million# „ Holdings of Treasury bills decreased $83 million in the San Francisco District ana increased $79 million in New York City; the net decrease at all reporting member banks was $88 million* Holdings of Treasury certificates of indebtedness ecreased $42 million in New York City, $4l million in the San Francisco District, an a total of $106 million at all reporting member banks.
