CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading cities
Decreases of
shows the following principal changes for the week ended March hi
H U 5 million in holdings of Treasury bills and $$63 million in United States Government deposits, and an increase of $207 million in demand deposits credited to
domestic banks»
Commercial, industrial, and agricultural loans increased #21 million in New
York City, $15 million in the Cleveland District, and $12 million in the Philadelphia District, and decreased $15 million in the Dallas District; the net increase
at all reporting member banks was $32 million. Changes according to industry
appear in another press release, "Other loans" increased $Wi million.
Holdings of Treasury bills decreased $71 million in New York City, $Wi million
in the San Francisco District, and $27 million in the Richmond District, and they
increased $22 million in the Chicago District, Holdings of "other securities" increased $35 million.
Demand deposits adjusted increased $70 million at all reporting member banks;
the principal changes were increases of $208 million in New York City, $6l million
in Chicago, $U6 million in the Philadelphia District, and $U5 million in the Boston
District, and decreases of $89 million in the San Francisco District, $51 million
in the Dallas District, and $1*3 million in the Kansas City District. Time deposits
increased $83 million, largely in New York City and in the San Francisco District.
Borrowings decreased $170 million in New York City and $120 million in total.

week. For purposes of comparability, the figures for March U, which are shown
above on the old basis, will be made available next week on the new basis together
with
the changes resulting from the revision; however, year-ago figures will not be

revised. The revisions result largely from the addition of a few banks.
