STATEMENT FOR ThE PRESS s t . 6509 Federal Reserve Board, March 10, I93O For immediate r e l e a s e CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORT IK G MEiSEB MIES IE LEADING- CITIES The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks in l e a d i n g c i t i e s on March 5 shows i n c r e a s e s f o r the week of $98,000,000 in loans and investments and of $1],000,000 i n time d e p o s i t s , a decrease of $24,000,000 in borrowings from Federal reserve banks"and a small decrease i n n e t demand d e p o s i t s . Loans on s e c u r i t i e s i n c r e a s e d $8$,000,000 a t r e p o r t i n g banks in the Hew York d i s t r i c t , $7,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t ^ $10,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t , and $96,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks. "All other" loans increased $25,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks, $18,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t and $13,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t , and d e c l i n e d $6,000,000 each in the Dallas and San Francisco d i s t r i c t s . Holdings of U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s declined $31,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t and $35,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks, while holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s i n c r e a s e d $9,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t and $14,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
