CCHDITIOI! OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS II LEADING CITIES
The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of weekly reporting member
"banks in leading c i t i e s on June 4 shows increases for the week of ^231,000,000 in
loans and investments and $245,000,000 in net demand deposits, and a decrease of
$23,000,000 in Government deposits.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s , which at a l l reporting banks were $134,000,000 above the
preceding week's t o t a l , increased $187,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t ,
$13,000,000 ill the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $11,000,000 in the Cleveland d i s t r i c t ,
and declined ^11,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t , $8,000,000 in the San Francisco
d i s t r i c t and $7,000,000 in the St. Louis d i s t r i c t . "All other" loans increased
$8,000,000 in the Philadelphia d i s t r i c t , $7,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t ,
$5,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t and $18,000,000 at a l l reporting hanks.
Holdings of U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s declined $11,000,000 i n the New York
d i s t r i c t and $12,000,000 at a l l reporting "banks, and increased $6,000,000 in the
Minneapolis d i s t r i c t . Holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s increased $52,000,000 in the
Now York d i s t r i c t , $9,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t , $8,000,000 in the Cleveland d i s t r i c t and $42,000,000 at a l l reporting "banks, and declined $31,000,000
in the St. Louis d i s t r i c t .
Borrowings of a l l reporting "banks from Federal reserve "banks show no change
for the week, small increases in a number of d i s t r i c t s "being o f f s e t "by decreases
in other d i s t r i c t s .
