Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks in 101 Leading C i t i e s
The condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks in 101 leading c i t i e s
on June 3 shows an increase f o r the week of $334,000,000 in t o t a l loans and i n v e s t ments, a decline . of $96,000,000 i n reserve balances with Federal Reserve banks, and
an increase of $135,000,000 in deposit balances standing to the c r e d i t of domestic
MnkS

L o a n s to brokers and d e a l e r s in New York City increased $214,000,000, loans t o
brokers and d e a l e r s out'side Now York increased $24,000,000, and loans on s e c u r i t i e s
to o t h e r s (except banks) increased $24,000,000, Holdings of acceptances and commercial paper bought declined $7,000,000. Loans to banks increased ^26,000,000 i n
the New York d i s t r i c t and $27,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member bankd, and "Other
loans" increased $37,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t and $44,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t ing member banks.

Holdings of United S t a t e s Government d i r e c t o b l i g a t i o n s increased 577,000,000
in the New York d i s t r i c t , and declined $32,000,000 i n the Cleveland d i s t r i c t ,
$29,000,000 in the S t . Louis d i s t r i c t , $10,000,000 i n the Philadelphia, d i s t r i c t ,
and $11,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of o b l i g a t i o n s f u l l y guaranteed by the United S t a t e s Government increased $13,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t and $15,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of *f)ther s e c u r i t i e s "
increased $3*000,000,
Demand d e p o s i t s - a d j u s t e d increased $114,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t , and
declined $40,000,000 i n the San Francisco d i s t r i c t , $22,000,000 i n the S t . Louis
d i s t r i c t , $14,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t and $13,000,000 i n the Cleveland d i s t r i c t , a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks showing a n e t i n c r e a s e of $18*000,000 f o r the
week. Time d e p o s i t s increased $27,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $7,000,000
a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks, and declined $14,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t .
Government d e p o s i t s declined $1,000,000. Deposit balances of o t h e r domestic banks
increased $51,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t , $24,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t
and $135,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks.
