CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN 90 LEADING CITIES
The Federal Reserve Board's c o n d i tion statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member
"banks i n 90 leading c i t i e s on June 21 shows i n c r e a s e s f o r the week of
$284,000,000 i n loans and investments, $73,000,000 i n time d e p o s i t s and $475,000,000
in Government d e p o s i t s , and decreases of $3^4,000,000 i n net demand d e p o s i t s and
$82,000,000 i n r e s e r v e b a l a n c e s with Federal r e s e r v e "banks.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s d e c l i n e d $27,000,000 a t r e p o r t i n g member banks i n the
New York d i s t r i c t and $29,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g b a n k s . "All o t h e r " loans dec l i n e d $37,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t and $30,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
Following the T r e a s u r y ' s q u a r t e r l y f i n a n c i a l o p e r a t i o n s , h o l d i n g s of United
States Government s e c u r i t i e s i n c r e a s e d s u b s t a n t i a l l y i n n e a r l y a l l d i s t r i c t s , the
t o t a l i n c r e a s e being $317»000,000. Holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s i n c r e a s e d
$23,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t and $26,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks.
Borrowings of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks from Federal r e s e r v e banks aggregated $50,000,000 on June 21, a decrease of $3,000,000 f o r the week.
Licensed member banks formerly included i n the c o n d i t i o n statement of member
banks i n 101 l e a d i n g c i t i e s , b u t not now included i n the weekly statement, had
t o t a l loans and investments of $779»000,000 and n e t demand, time and Government
d e p o s i t s of $743,000,000 on June 21, coiapared with $73^,000,000 and $701,000,000,
r e s p e c t i v e l y , on June l 4 .
