CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BAMS IN LEADING CITIES
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading c i t i e s
shows the following p r i n c i p a l changes f o r the week ended June
Increases of
$520,000,000 in holdings of United States Government s e c u r i t i e s , $35b,00u,uuu in
reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks, $549,000,000 in demand deposits adjusted, and $370,000,000 in demand deposits credited to domestic banks.

Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l , and a g r i c u l t u r a l loans increased $13,000,000 in the
San Francisco D i s t r i c t and decreased by smaller amounts in the other d i s t r i c t s ;
net decrease a t a l l reporting member banks was $39,000,000. Loans to brokers an
dealers f o r purchasing or carrying s e c u r i t i e s other than United States Governmen
s e c u r i t i e s increased $28,000,000 in Chicago, $25,000,000 in New Yor
I y,
in the Chicago D i s t r i c t , and a t o t a l of $351,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks.
Holdings of United States Government bonds increased $64,000,000 in New York City,
$31,000,000 in the San Francisco D i s t r i c t , and $25,000,000 in the Boston D i s t r i c t ,
and a t o t a l of $153,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks. Holdings of other
s e c u r i t i e s " increased $29,000,000.

Demand deposits adjusted increased in a l l d i s t r i c t s ; the p r i n c i p a l inc ea
were $362,000,000 in New York City, $45,000,000 in the San Francisco D i s t r i c t ,
$44,000,000 in the Kansas City D i s t r i c t , and $39,000,000 in the Dallas D i s t r i c t ,
but they decreased $63,000,000 in the New York
D i s t r i c t outside of New York
City. United States Government deposits increased $195,000,000. The increase in
demand deposits credited t o domestic banks was l a r g e l y i n New York City.
