CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES

The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in 101 leading c i t i e s
shows the following principal changes for the week ended June 121 Decreases of
$506,000,000 i n holdings of United States Government obligations and $1*16,000,000
in United States Government deposits.
Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l , and agricultural loans increased $15,000,000 in the
Chicago D i s t r i c t ,
$12,000,000 in the San Francisco D i s t r i c t , $ 9 , 0 0 0 , 0 0 0 in the
Cleveland D i s t r i c t , and $38,000,000
a l l reporting member banks, and declined
$21*,000,000 in New York City. Loans t o brokers and dealers for purchasing or
carrying United States Government obligations declined $1*2,000,000 in New York City
and $37,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks; other loans for the same purpose
declined $19,000,000.
Holdings of Treasury b i l l s declined $263,000,000 in New York City and
$381,000,000 at a l l reporting menber banks. Holdings of Treasury c e r t i f i c a t e s of
indebtedness declined $72,000,000 i n the Chicago D i s t r i c t , $29,000,000 in the San
Francisco D i s t r i c t , $21*,000,000 in the Cleveland D i s t r i c t , and $11*7,000,000 at a l l
reporting member banks. Holdings of Treasury notes declined $36,000,000. Holdings
of United States Government bonds increased $61,000,000 in New York City and
$59,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks.
Demand deposits adjusted declined $14.7,000,000 and $1*3,000,000 in the c i t i e s of
New York and Chicago and $35,000,000 i n the San Francisco D i s t r i c t , and increased
in most of the other d i s t r i c t s , including $3^,000,000 i n the Dallas D i s t r i c t ,
$32,000,000 i n the Kansas City D i s t r i c t , and $20,000,000 i n the St. Louis D i s t r i c t j
at a l l reporting member banks there was a net increase of $31*, 000,000. United
States Government deposits declined in a l l d i s t r i c t s .
