R. 284 STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS For immediate r e l e a s e Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System June lit, 1943 Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks in Leading C i t i e s The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in 101 leading c i t i e s shows t h e following p r i n c i p a l changes f o r the week ended June 9 : Decreases of $290,000,000 in holdings of Treasury b i l l s and $950,000,000 in United States Government d e p o s i t s , and an increase of $6?5>000,000 in demand d e p o s i t s - a d j u s t e d . Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l , and a g r i c u l t u r a l loans declined $16,000,000 in New York City and $25,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Loans t o brokers and dealers in s e c u r i t i e s declined $53,000,000 in New York City and $63,000,000 a t a l l reporting member banks. „ , „.. , Holdings of Treasury b i l l s declined $262,000,000 in hew York City and $290,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks.
