Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks in Leading C i t i e s
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in 101 leading c i t i e s
shows t h e following p r i n c i p a l changes f o r the week ended June 9 : Decreases of
$290,000,000 in holdings of Treasury b i l l s and $950,000,000 in United States Government d e p o s i t s , and an increase of $6?5>000,000 in demand d e p o s i t s - a d j u s t e d .
Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l , and a g r i c u l t u r a l loans declined $16,000,000 in New
York City and $25,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Loans t o brokers and
dealers in s e c u r i t i e s declined $53,000,000 in New York City and $63,000,000 a t a l l
reporting member banks.

Holdings of Treasury b i l l s declined $262,000,000 in hew York City and
$290,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of United S t a t e s Government
bonds increased $19,000,000 in the Boston D i s t r i c t , $13,000,000 i n New York City,
and $54,000,000 a t a l l reporting member banks.

Demand d e p o s i t s - a d j u s t e d increased in a l l d i s t r i c t s , the p r i n c i p a l increases
being $220,000,000 in New York City, $85,000,000 in the Chicago D i s t r i c t ,
$69,000,000 in the Cleveland D i s t r i c t , and $61,000,000 in t h e S t , Louis D i s t r i c t ;
the t o t a l increase a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks was $675,000,000. United s t a t e s
Government deposits declined in a l l D i s t r i c t s , the p r i n c i p a l decreases being
$#77,000,000 in New York City, $127,000,000 in the Chicago D i s t r i c t , and
$63,000,000 in the Boston D i s t r i c t ; the t o t a l decrease a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks
was $950,000,000.
