Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks i n 101 Leading C i t i e s
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks i n 101 leading
c i t i e s shows the following p r i n c i p a l changes for the vjeek ended June 5t Decreases
of $41,000,000 i n loans to brokers and dealers i n s e c u r i t i e s and $41,000,000 in
holdings of "Other s e c u r i t i e s " , and increases of $105,000,000 i n reserve balances
with Federal Reserve banks and $57,000,000 in deposits credited to domestic banks.
Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l , and a g r i c u l t u r a l loans increased $6,000,000 i n the
Chicago d i s t r i c t and $1,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks. Loans to brokers
and dealers i n s e c u r i t i e s decreased $38,000,000 i n New York City and $41,000,000
a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks.
Holdings of United S t a t e s Treasury b i l l s increased $78,000,000 i n New York
City and $71,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks. Holdings of United States
Government bonds increased $10,000,000 i n the S t . Louis d i s t r i c t and $9,000,000 at
a l l reporting member banks. Holdings of "Other s e c u r i t i e s " decreased $27,000,000
i n New York City and $41,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks.
Demand deposits-adjusted increased $54,000,000 i n the St. Louis d i s t r i c t ,
$21,000,000 i n the Boston d i s t r i c t and $22,000,000 i n New York City, and decreased
$35,000,000 i n the Philadelphia d i s t r i c t , $20,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t and
$13,000,000 i n the Kansas City d i s t r i c t . The t o t a l increase at a l l reporting
member banks was $19,000,000,
Deposits credited to domestic banks increased $17,000,000 i n t h e Chicago
d i s t r i c t , $12,000,000 each i n the Cleveland and Richmond d i s t r i c t s and $11,000,000
i n the Atlanta d i s t r i c t , a n d decreased $14,000,000 i n Hew York City and $12,000,000
i n the S t . Louis d i s t r i c t . The t o t a l increase at a l l reporting member banks was
$57,000,000. Deposits credited to foreign banks decreased $5,000,000 i n New York
City.
