H.4.2 BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM (For Immediate Release) June 1, i960 CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER B A M S IN LEADING CITIES The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading cities shows the following principal changes for the week ended May 25: Decreases of $226 million in loans adjusted, $152 million in balances with domestic banks, and $646 million in demand deposits credited to domestic banks, and an increase of $252 million in deposits adjusted. Commercial and industrial loans decreased in most districts and a total of $50 million. Loans to brokers and dealers for purchasing or carrying U. S. Government and other securities decreased $82 million. Loans to sales and personal finance institutions decreased $102 million. Holdings of Treasury bills increased $48 million. Holdings of the combined total of Treasury notes and U. S. Government bonds decreased by $43 million. Borrowings of weekly reporting member banks from Federal Reserve Banks increased $45 million and borrowings from others increased $378 million.
