CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING- MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES
The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g
member banks in l e a d i n g c i t i e s on J u l y 2 shows a decrease f o r the week of
$41,000,000 in loans and investments, increases of $174,000,000 in n e t demand
deposits, $42,000,000 in time deposits and $30,000,000 in borrowings from Federal
reserve banks, and a decrease of $19,000,000 in Government d e p o s i t s .
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s declined $33,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t ,
$13,000,000 in the Kansas City d i s t r i c t , $7,000,000 in the Minneapolis d i s t r i c t
and $45,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks, and increased $12,000,000 in the Boston
d i s t r i c t , ™AU other" loans declined $59,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t ,
$8,000,000 i n the A t l a n t a d i s t r i c t , $6,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t and
$36,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks, and increased $26,000,000 i n the Cleveland
d i s t r i c t , $9,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $7,000,000 i n the San Francisco
district.
Holdings of U. S. government s e c u r i t i e s declined $19,000,000 in the New
York d i s t r i c t , and $26,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks, and increased $12,000,000
in the Cleveland d i s t r i c t . Holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s i n c r e a s e d $24,000,000 in
the Chicago d i s t r i c t , $12,000,000 i n the Cleveland d i s t r i c t , $11,000,000 i n the
New York d i s t r i c t and $65,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
The p r i n c i p a l changes i n borrowings from Federal reserve banks f o r the
week were i n c r e a s e s of $10,000,000 a t the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and
$9,000,000 a t San Franciuco.
