Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks i n Leading C i t i e s
The condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member basics i n 101 leading
c i t i e s shows t h e following p r i n c i p a l changes f o r the week ended .T*\ly 16: Increases
of $55,000,000 i n commercial, i n d u s t r i a l and a g r i c u l t u r a l l o a n s , $2^' ,000,000 i n
reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks, $340,000-000 i n demand de_-isits-adj u s t e d , and $125,000,000 i n deposits c r e d i t e d to domestic banks.
Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l , , and a g r i c u l t u r a l loans increased $17,000,000 .'*) New
York City, $13,000,000 i n t h e Chicago d i s t r i c t , and $55,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t ! ; ^
member banks.
Holdings of United S t a t e s Government d i r e c t and guaranteed o b l i g a t i o n s inrcreased $35,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of "Other s e c u r i t i e s "
declined $9,000,000.
Demand d e p o s i t s - a d j u s t e d increased i n nearly a l l d i s t r i c t s , the p r i n c i p a l
increases being $83,000,000 i n New York City, $50,000,000 i n the .Chicago d i s t r i c t ,
and $-42,000,000 i n the Cleveland d i s t r i c t ; the t o t a l i n c r e a s e a t a l l reporting
member banks was $340,000,000.
Deposits c r e d i t e d to domestic banks increased $4-3,000,000 i n New York City,
$31,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t , $15,000,000 each i n the Philadelphia and
Cleveland d i s t r i c t s , and $125,000,000 a t a l l reporting member banks.
