STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS ?or immediate r e l e a s e Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System J u l y 20, 1936 Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks i n 101 Leading C i t i e s The condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks i n 101 leading c i t i e s on J u l y 15 shows i n c r e a s e s f o r the week of <£52,000,000 i n t o t a l loans and i n v e s t ments,' $45,000,000 i n r e s e r v e balances with Federal Reserve banks, $116,000,000 in^ demand d e p o s i t s - a d j u s t e d , and $80,000,000 i n deposit balances standing to tne c r e d i t of domestic banks. Loans t o brokers and d e a l e r s i n New York incre ase d $17,000,000, loans t o brokers and d e a l e r s o u t s i d e New York declined $2,000-000, and l o a n s on s e c u r i t i e s to o t h e r s (except banks) increased -54-3,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $45,000,000 at a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of acceptances and commercial paper bought declined $3,000,000, r e a l e s t a t e loans declined #2,000,000, and loans t o banks and "Other loans" showed no net change f o r the week.
