STATEMENT FOE TEE PRESS B-U19 Federal Beserve Board For immediate r e l e a s e July 20, 1931. CONDITIO]! OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS III LEADING CITIES The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks in leading c i t i e s on July 15 shows decreases f o r the week of $72,000,000 in loans and investments, $34,000,000 in time d e p o s i t s and $3%,000,000 in Government deposits, and an i n c r e a s e of $41,000,000 in net demand d e p o s i t s . Loans on s e c u r i t i e s declined $49,000,000 a t r e p o r t i n g member "banks in the New York d i s t r i c t and $35,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks. "All o t h e r " loans i n creased $54,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t , and $34,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks. Holdings of United S t a t e s Government s e c u r i t i e s declined $8,000,000 in the Cleveland d i s t r i c t and increased $6,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t , a l l r e p o r t i n g banks showing a net r e d u c t i o n of $5,000,000. Holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s declined $63,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $66,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks. Borrowings of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks from Federal r e s e r v e banks aggregated $43,000,000 on July 15, r e p r e s e n t i n g an increase of $3,000,000 f o r the week.
