Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks i n 101 Leading C i t i e s

The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks i n 101 leading c i t i e s
shows the following principal changes f o r the week ended July 13: A decrease of
#23,000,000 i n loans t o brokers and dealers i n s e c u r i t i e s , and increases of
#160,000,000 i n reserve balances with Federal Reserve banks and #193>000,000 i n
demand deposits-adjusted*
Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l and agricultural loans increased #5,000,000. Loans to
brokers and dealers i n s e c u r i t i e s declined #4-1,000,000 i n New York City and
#23,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks.

Holdings of United States Government direct obligations declined #19,000,000

i n the Boston d i s t r i c t , and increased #10.000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t ,
#8,000,000 i n the S t . Louis d i s t r i c t and #3,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks.
Holdings of o b l i g a t i o n s f u l l y guaranteed by the United S t a t e s Government increased
#6,000,000. Holdings of "Other s e c u r i t i e s " increased #4,000,000#
Demand depositswadjusted increased i n a l l but one d i s t r i c t , the principal i n creases being #91,000,000 i n New York City, #34,000.000 i n the San Francisco d i s t r i c t , #19,000,000 i n the Kansas City d i s t r i c t and #17,000,000 i n the Chicago dis—
k t r i c t , and the aggregate net increase #193,000,000. Time deposits declined
#9,000,000 i n the San Francisco d i s t r i c t , $6,000,000 in New York City and
#20,000,000 at a n reporting member banks. Government d e p o s i t s declined #8,000,000.
Deposits credited t o domestic banks increased #21,000,000 i n New York City,
#12,000,000 i n the San Francisco d i s t r i c t and #29,000,000 at a l l reporting member
banks.
Borrowings of weekly reporting member banks amounted to #7,000,000 on July" 13.
