CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES
The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of weekly reporting member
banks i n 101 l e a d i n g c i t i e s on July 10 shows decreases of $'51,000,000 in loans
and investments, of $123,000,000 i n net demand d e p o s i t s , of $25,000,000 i n time .
deposits and of $39,000,000 i n Government d e p o s i t s , and an increase of
$24,000,000 i n "borrowings from Federal reserve "banks.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s declined $49,000,000 at a l l reporting banks, $72,000,000
i n the New York d i s t r i c t , and $7,000,000 i n the Cleveland d i s t r i c t , and increased
$8,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t , $7,000,000 each i n the Atlanta and Chicago d i s t r i c t s and $6,000,000 i n the Philadelphia d i s t r i c t . "All other" loans increased
$11,000,000 a t reporting banks i n the New York d i s t r i c t , $7,000,000 each in the
Cleveland and Chicago d i s t r i c t s , $6,000,000 i n the Kansas City d i s t r i c t and
$30,000,000 a t a l l reporting banks.
Holdings of U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s declined $19,000,000 a t a l l reporting banks and $10,000,000 in the San Francisco d i s t r i c t , and holdings of other
s e c u r i t i e s declined $6,000,000 each i n the Boston and New York d i s t r i c t s and
$11,000,000 a t a l l reporting banks.
Net demand d e p o s i t s , which at a l l reporting banks were $123,000,000 below
the July 3 t o t a l , declined $109,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t , $14,000,000 in
the Boston d i s t r i c t , $13,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $6,000,000 i n the
Philadelphia d i s t r i c t , and increased $12,000,000 i n the San Francisco d i s t r i c t
and $8,000,000 i n the Cleveland d i s t r i c t . Time deposits declined $8,000,000 i n
the Cleveland d i s t r i c t , $6,000,000 in the San Francisco d i s t r i c t and $25,000,000
at a l l reporting banks.
The p r i n c i p a l changes i n borrowings from Federal reserve banks f o r the week
were i n c r e a s e s of $ l 4 , 0 0 0 , 0 0 0 and $7,000,000, r e s p e c t i v e l y , a t the Federal Reserve
Banks of New York and Boston.
