CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES
The Federal Reserve B o a r d ' s c o n d i t i o n statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member^
"banks i n l e a d i n g c i t i e s on J u l y 8 shows a decrease f o r the week of $55,000,000 i n
l o a n s , o f f s e t "by an i n c r e a s e of $56,000,000 i n i n v e s t m e n t s , a l s o d e c r e a s e s of
$84,000,000 i n net demand d e p o s i t s and $38,000,000 i n Government d e p o s i t s and an
i n c r e a s e of $18,000,000 i n borrowings f r o m Federal r e s e r v e "banks. Time d e p o s i t s
show l i t t l e change f o r t h e week.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s d e c l i n e d $$8,000,000 a t r e p o r t i n g hanks i n the New York
d i s t r i c t , $8,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t and $78,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g "banks.
"All o t h e r " l o a n s i n c r e a s e d $15,000,000 i n t h e Boston d i s t r i c t , $8,000,000 each
i n t h e New York and Chicago d i s t r i c t s , and $23,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
Holdings of U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s i n c r e a s e d $14,000,000 in t h e San^
Francisco d i s t r i c t , and d e c l i n e d $6,000,000 each i n t h e Boston and P h i l a d e l p h i a
d i s t r i c t s , a l l r e p o r t i n g "banks showing a net r e d u c t i o n of $5,000,000. Holdings of
other s e c u r i t i e s i n c r e a s e d $62,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t , $12,000,000 i n
the Richmond d i s t r i c t and $61,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g "banks.
Borrowings of weekly r e p o r t i n g member "banks from Federal r e s e r v e banks a g g r e gated $40,000,000 on J u l y 8, the p r i n c i p a l change f o r t h e week b e i n g an i n c r e a s e
of $19,000,000 a t the Federal Reserve Bank of San F r a n c i s c o .
