CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN 90 LEADING CITIES
The F e d e r a l Reserve B o a r d ' s condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member
banks i n 90 l e a d i n g c i t i e s on J u l y 5 shows i n c r e a s e s f o r the week of $21,000,000
in loans and i n v e s t m e n t s and $86,000,000 in time d e p o s i t s , and d e c r e a s e s of
$991000, 000 i n n e t demand d e p o s i t s and $96,000,000 i n r e s e r v e b a l a n c e s with
Federal r e s e r v e banks.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s i n c r e a s e d $54,000,000 at r e p o r t i n g member banks i n the
New York d i s t r i c t , $6,000,000 i n t h e San F r a n c i s c o d i s t r i c t and $63,000,000 a t a l l
r e p o r t i n g member b a n k s . "All o t h e r " loans i n c r e a s e d $12,000,000 in the Chicago
d i s t r i c t and $15,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
Holdings of United S t a t e s Government s e c u r i t i e s d e c l i n e d $27,000,000 i n
the New York d i s t r i c t , $10,000,000 i n t h e Boston d i s t r i c t and $51,000,000 at a l l
r e p o r t i n g member b a n k s .
Holdings of o t h e r s e c u r i t i e s declined $9,000,000 i n the
San F r a n c i s c o d i s t r i c t and $6,000,000 at a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
Borrowings of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks from Federal r e s e r v e banks
aggregated $31,000,000 on J u l y 5. t h e p r i n c i p a l change f o r the week being an i n c r e a s e of $10,000,000 &V t h e Federal Reserve Bank of San F r a n c i s c o .
l i c e n s e d member banks f o r m e r l y included i n t h e condition statement of
member banks i n 101 l e a d i n g c i t i e s , but not now included in t h e weekly s t a t e m e n t ,
had t o t a l loans and investments of $802,000,000 and net demand, time, and Government d e p o s i t s of $801,000,000 on J u l y 5, compared w i t h $793,000,000 and
$773,000,000. r e s p e c t i v e l y , on June 28.
