Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks in Leading Cities
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in 101 leading cities
shows the following principal changes for the week ended January 19* Increases of
$ 3 0 8 , 0 0 0 ,0 0 0 in United States Government obligations and $55U*0 0 0 ,0 0 0 in demand
deposits-adjusted, and a decrease of $261*,0 0 0 ,0 0 0 in United States Government
deposits.
Holdings of Treasury bills increased $ 8 3 * 0 0 0 ,0 0 0 in New York City and
$61*,0 0 0 ,0 0 0 at all reporting member banks, and declined $ 3 3 * 0 0 0 ,0 0 0 in the Chicago
District, Holdings of Treasury certificates of indebtedness increased in nearly
all districts and the total increase at all reporting member banks was $ 8 2 ,0 0 0 ,0 0 0 *
Holdings of United States Government bonds increased $ 6 0 ,0 0 0 ,0 0 0 in New York City,
$ 3 1 ,0 0 0 , 0 0 0 in the San Francisco District, $ 2 2 , 0 0 0 , 0 0 0 in the Chicago District, and
$ 1 3 1 ,0 0 0 ,0 0 0 at all reporting member banks. Obligations guaranteed by the United
States Government increased $1*5*000,000,
Demand deposits-adjusted increased $1*19,000,000 in New York City, and
$ 5 5 ll* 0 0 0 ,0 0 0 at all reporting member banks. United States Government deposits de­
clined in all districts and the total cL«cre.~se at all reporting member banks was
$261*, 000,000,
Deposits credited to domestic banks increased $ 3 0 , 0 0 0 , 0 0 0 in New' York City,
