CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading c i t i e s
shows the following principal changes for the week ended January 15; Decreases of
$537 million in loans adjusted, $142 million in holdings of U.S. Government
securities, $522 million in U.S. Government deposits, and $491 million in borrowings from Federal Reserve Banks, and increases of $176 million in demand deposits
adjusted and $154 million in demand deposits credited t o domestic banks.
„ .^Commercial and industrial loans decreased in a l l but"one d i s t r i c t and a total
of #287 million at a l l reporting member banks; the principal decreases were $104
million in the New York D i s t r i c t , $49 million in the San Francisco D i s t r i c t , $41
million m the Cleveland D i s t r i c t , and $55 million in the Chicago D i s t r i c t .
