CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BAIHCS IN LEADING CITIES
The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member
banks i n leading c i t i e s on February 1 shows an increase f o r the week of
$126,000,000 in loans, o f f s e t in p a r t by a decrease of $20,000,000 i n investments,
also decreases of $8%,000,000 i n reserve balances with Federal reserve banks and
$37,000,000 in net demand d e p o s i t s and i n c r e a s e s of $$7,000,000 i n Government dep o s i t s and $5,000,000 in borrowings from Federal reserve banks.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s increased $80,000,000 at r e p o r t i n g member banks in the
New York d i s t r i c t , $6,000,000 i n the Boston d i s t r i c t and $86,000,000 at a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. "All other " loans increased $4-1,000,000 in the New York
d i s t r i c t and $40,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
Holdings of United S t a t e s Government s e c u r i t i e s increased $15,000,000 in the
Cleveland d i s t r i c t and declined $29,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t , $17,000,000
in the Chicago d i s t r i c t , $14,000,000 in the Richmond d i s t r i c t and $30,000,000 a t
a l l r e p o r t i n g banks. Holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s increased $8,000,000 i n the
Minneapolis d i s t r i c t and $10,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
Borrowings of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks from Federal r e s e r v e banks aggregated $81,000,000 on February 1, the p r i n c i p a l change f o r the week being an i n crease of $4,000,000 at the Federal Reserve Bank of San f r a n c i s c o .
