Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks i n Leading C i t i e s
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in 101 leading c i t i e s
shows the following p r i n c i p a l changes f o r ' t h e week ended February 20: Increases of
$107,000,000 i n loans and $11*5,000,000 i n demand deposits a d j u s t e d , and a decrease
of $11*7,000,000 in deposits c r e d i t e d to domestic banks.
Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l , and a g r i c u l t u r a l loans increased $22,000,000 in New York
City, $7,000,000 in the San Francisco D i s t r i c t , and $25,000,000 a t a l l reporting
member banks. Loans f o r purchasing or carrying s e c u r i t i e s increased $36,000,000.
Holdings of Treasury c e r t i f i c a t e s of indebtedness increased $61*,000,000 in New
York C i t y , $22,000,000 in the San Francisco D i s t r i c t , and $106,000,000 at a l l r e porting member banks. Holdings of Treasury notes increased $21*,000,000, Holdings
of United S t a t e s Government bonds declined $59,000,000 i n New York City and
$16,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks, and increased $1*1*,000,000 in the San
Francisco D i s t r i c t .
Demand deposits a d j u s t e d increased $106,000,000 in ^ew York City, $22,000,000
in the Dallas D i s t r i c t , and $11*5,000,000 a t a l l reporting member banks, Time dep o s i t s increased $35,000,000 and United States Government deposits increased

$1*1,000,000.

Deposits c r e d i t e d t o domestic banks declined i n n e a r l y a l l d i s t r i c t s , including
a decrease of $1*7,000,000 in New York City.
Borrowings declined $29,000,000 in New York City, $23>000,000 in the Cleveland
D i s t r i c t , and $53,000,000 a t a l l reporting member banks.
