BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM (For Immediate Release) February 25, 1948 CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks i n leading c i t i e s shows the following principal changes for the week ended. February 18* Decreases of *$157,000,000 in holdings of United States Government securities,$275*000,000 in reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks, $2)5,000,000 in demand deposits adjusted, and $200,000,000 i n borrowings. Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l , and agricultural loans decreased $75,000,000 in New York i C i t y and $69,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks. Loans t o banks increased 'H.4»2 $83,000,000. Holdings of Treasury b i l l s increased $36,000,000 in the Kansas City D i s t r i c t tmd decreased i n most of the other d i s t r i c t s ; the net decrease a t a l l reporting Holdings of Treasury c e r t i f i c a t e s of indebtedness e member banks was $4,000,000. * decreased $28,000,000- i n New York City, $22,000,000 i n the San Francisco D i s t r i c t , $19,000,000 i n the Boston D i s t r i c t , and $64,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks.
