CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING- MEiffiER SAMS IN LEADING- CITES
The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member
banks in leading c i t i e s on February 19 shows a decrease f o r the week of
$ 74,000,000 in loans, an increase of $58,000,000 in investments, and decreases
of $12,000,000 and $5,000,000, r e s p e c t i v e l y , in net demand and time deposits.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s declined $1],000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks, $21,000,000
in the New York d i s t r i c t and $7,000,000 in the Richmond d i s t r i c t , and increased
$27,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t . "All other" loans declined $42,000,000 in
the Hew York d i s t r i c t , $11,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t and $61,000,000 a t
a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
Holdings of U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s increased $52,000,000 in the New
York d i s t r i c t , $9,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $64,000,000 a t a l l
r e p o r t i n g banks, while holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s declined $10,000,000 in
the New York d i s t r i c t , $6,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $6,000,000 a t
a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
The p r i n c i p a l changes i n borrowings from Federal reserve banks f o r the
week, which showed a net increase of $1,000,000 f o r a l l r e p o r t i n g banks,
comprised an increase of $11,000,000 a t the Federal Reserve Bank of New York
and decreases of $8,000,000 a t Chicago and $7,000,000 a t Kansas City.
