STATEMENT FOR THE PRESS For immediate release St. 64g4 Federal Reserve Board, February 17, 1930 CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING- CITIES The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading c i t i e s on February 12 shows decreases f o r the week of $27,000,000 in loans and investments, $33,000,000 in net demand deposits, $7,000,000 in time deposits and $9,000,000 in Government deposits,"and an i n crease of $12,000,000 in borrowings from Federal reserve banks. Loans on s e c u r i t i e s decreased $17,000,000 at reporting member banks in the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $10,000,000 at a l l reporting banks. "All other" loans declined $27,000,000 at a l l reporting banks and $28,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t , and increased $11,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t . Holdings of U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s increased $18,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t and $19,000,000 a t a l l reporting banks, while holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s show a decline of $8,000,000. The p r i n c i p a l changes in borrowings from Federal reserve Thanks f o r the week comprise an increase of $30,000,000 a t the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and decreases of $9,000,000 each a t Chicago and San Francisco.
