Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks in 101 Leading Cities
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in 101 leading
cities shows the following principal changes for the week ended February 5t Increases of $48,000,000 in commercial, industrial, and agricultural loans and
$349,000,000 in holdings of United States Treasury notes, decreases of $500,000,000
in reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks and $134,000,000 in demand depositsadjusted, and an increase of $116,000,000 in United States Government deposits.
Commercial, industrial, and agricultural loans increased $20,000,000 in Hew
York City and $48,000,000 at all reporting member banks. Loans to brokers and
dealers in securities decreased $18,000,000.
Holdings of United States Treasury bills increased $47,000,000 in the Chicago
district, $29,000,000 in the Minneapolis district and $47,000,000 at all reporting
member banks, and decreased $26,000,000 in Hew York City. Holdings of Treasury
notes increased in all districts. The increase in New York City was $224,000,000
and the increase at all reporting member banks was $349,000,000. Holdings of
United States Government bonds increased $30,000,000 in New York City and
$32,000,000 at all reporting member banks. Holdings of "Other securities" increased
$48,000,000 in New York City and $49,000,000 at all reporting member banks.
Demand deposits—adjusted decreased $35,000,000 in the Chicago district,
$.31,000,000 in the Cleveland district, $29,000,000 in New York City, $22,000,000 in
the Philadelphia district, $20,000,000 in the San Francisco district, and
$1^,000,000 at all reporting member banks. Time deposits increased $27,000,000.
United States Government deposits increased $49,000,000 in the Chicago district,
$18,000,000 in the San Francisco district, and $116,000,000 at all reporting member
banks.
Deposits credited to .domestic banks decreased $51,000,000 in New York Qf.ty
and $36,000,000 at all reporting member banks.
