JWXl i i u liUWO For immediate r e l e a s e Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System February 1, 1937 Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks in 101 Leading C i t i e s The condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks i n 101 leading c i t i e s on January 27 shows decreases f o r the week of $30,000,000 i n t o t a l loans and i n v e s t ments, $17,000,000 i n demand d e p o s i t s - a d j u s t e d , $34,000,000 i n Government d e p o s i t s , $30,000,000 i n d e p o s i t s c r e d i t e d to domestic banks and $53,000,000 in balances with domestic banks, and an increase of $30,000,000 i n reserve balances with Federal Reserve banks. Loans to brokers and d e a l e r s in New York City increased $2,000,000, loans to brokers and d e a l e r s o u t s i d e Hew York increased $6,000,000, and loans on s e c u r i t i e s to others (except banks) increased $25,000,000 in the Hew York d i s t r i c t and $24,000,000 a t .all r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of acceptances and commercial paper bought increased $7,000,000, r e a l e s t a t e loans declined $1,000,000, and loans to banks increased $3,000,000.
