BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM (For Immediate Release) December 5 , 1951 H.l*#2 CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES The c o n d i t i o n s t a t e m e n t of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks i n l e a d i n g c i t i e s shows t h e f o l l o w i n g p r i n c i p a l changes f o r t h e week ended November 28: I n c r e a s e s of $603 m i l l i o n i n h o l d i n g s of T r e a s u r y b i l l s , $683 m i l l i o n i n demand d e p o s i t s a d j u s t e d , $137 m i l l i o n i n United S t a t e s Government d e p o s i t s , and ;*131 m i l l i o n i n b o r rowings, and a d e c r e a s e of $1*31 m i l l i o n i n demand d e p o s i t s c r e d i t e d t o domestic banks. Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l , and a g r i c u l t u r a l l o a n s decreased $20 m i l l i o n i n t h e San F r a n c i s c o D i s t r i c t , $15 m i l l i o n i n t h e Chicago D i s t r i c t , and $13 m i l l i o n i n t h e Boston D i s t r i c t , and t h e y i n c r e a s e d $29 m i l l i o n i n New York C i t y , $ll* m i l l i o n i n t h e S t . Louis D i s t r i c t , and $12 m i l l i o n i n t h e D a l l a s D i s t r i c t ; t h e n e t d e c r e a s e a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks was $7 m i l l i o n . U n c l a s s i f i e d l o a n s and l o a n s to manufacture r s of t e x t i l e s , a p p a r e l , and l e a t h e r showed n e t repayments; l o a n s to commodity d e a l e r s , m a n u f a c t u r e r s of f o o d , l i q i o r , and tobacco p r o d u c t s , and t o m a n u f a c t u r e r s of m e t a l s and metal p r o d u c t s showed i n c r e a s e s .
