Continued l o a n l i q u i d a t i o n , a g g r e g a t i n g i n the net $43,000,000, a l s o r e d u c t i o n of $12,000,000 i n t h e investment account are shown i n the Federal Reserve B o a r d ' s weekly c o n s o l i d a t e d statement of c o n d i t i o n on November 22 of 784 member banks i n l e a d i n g c i t i e s . Since October IS, the "upward tr.?nd cf memoer •*>«nk loans and investments which began i n A p r i l of t h i s year n a s been r e v e r s e d , though t h e November 22 t o t a l cf loans and investments, $15>719>000,000, i s s t i l l $967,000,000 l a r g e r than about a year ago. A l l c l a s s e s of l o a n s show r e d u c t i o n s f o r the week, loans secured by stocks and bonds showing the l a r g e s t d e c l i n e of $28,000,000, n e a r l y a l l i n New York City. L i q u i d a t i o n of Government s e c u r i t i e s was l i m i t e d t o S. bonds. Treasury n o t e s and c e r t i f i c a t e s show an i n c r e a s e f o r the week oi ip4 } 000,0Q0, while investments i n c o r p o r a t e s e c u r i t i e s show a decrease of ^6,003,000, Member banks i n New York C i t y r e p o r t r e d u c t i o n s of $29,000,000 i n loans and d i s c o u n t s , of $7,000,000 i n jjovermmmt oacvrit-ioo- and of $31,000,000 i n o t h e r s e c u r i t i e s . Borrowings of t h e r e p o r t i n g i n s t i t u t i o n s from the F e d e r a l r e s e r v e banks dec l i n e d from $403,000,000 t o 60,000,000, or from 2 . 6 to 2 . 3 per c e n t of t h e i r combined l o a n s and investments. For members i n New York C i t y a r e d u c t i o n from $147,000,000 t o $113,000,000 i n borrowings from the l o c a l r e s e r v e bank and from 2 . 9 to 2 . 3 p e r pent i n the r a t i o of t h e s e borrowings to t o t a l loans and i n v e s t ments i s no tod.
