CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING HBOER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES
The Federal Reserve Board's c o n d i t i o n statement of weekly, r e p o r t i n g member
banks i n l e a d i n g c i t i e s on December 10 shows decreases f o r the week of
$74,000,000 i n loans and investments and $17,000,000 i n time d e p o s i t s , and i n creases of $6,,000,000 i n n e t demand deposits and $7,000,000 i n "borrowings from
Federal r e s e r v e "banks.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s declined $26,000,000 a t r e p o r t i n g "banks i n the New York
d i s t r i c t , and i n c r e a s e d $22,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $7,000,000 i n
the San Francisco d i s t r i c t , while a l l r e p o r t i n g banks show no n e t change f o r
the week. "All o t h e r " loans d e c l i n e d $4ยง,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t ,
$19,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t , $7,000,000 in t h e Boston d i s t r i c t ,
$6,000,000 i n the P h i l a d e l p h i a d i s t r i c t , $5,000,000 i n the Minneapolis d i s t r i c t
and $91,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g "banks.
Holdings of V. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s incre ase d $52,000,000 in t h e New
York d i s t r i c t and $49,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g "banks. Holdings of o t h e r s e c u r i t i e s declined $44,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t and i n c r e a s e d $b,000,000
i n the P h i l a d e l p h i a d i s t r i c t , a l l r e p o r t i n g "banks showing a n e t decrease of
$34,000,000.
Borrowings of weekly r e p o r t i n g member "banks from Federal r e s e r v e "banks aggregated $106,000,000 on December 10, the p r i n c i p a l changes f o r the week beihg an
i n c r e a s e of $16,000,000 a t the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and a decline
of $7,000,000 a t San F r a n c i s c o .
