CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES

The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading cities
shows the following principal changes for the week ended July 27: Decreases of
$^99 million in loans adjusted, $44l million in U. S. Government demand deposits, and
$5*K3 million in demand deposits credited to domestic banks, and an increase of $708 million in demand deposits adjusted.
Commercial and industrial loans decreased in most districts and a total of
$l8l million. Loans to brokers and dealers for purchasing or carrying U. S. Government
and other securities decreased $195 million. Loans to nonbank financial institutions
decreased $105 million.
Holdings of Treasury bills decreased $110 million. Holdings of "other" securities increased $73 million.
Time deposits other than interbank increased $73 million.
Borrowings of weekly reporting member banks from Federal Reserve Banks decreased
$728 million but borrowings from others increased $374 million. Loans to domestic commercial banks increased $4l0 million.
