Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks i n 101 Leading C i t i e s
The c o n d i t i o n statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks i n 101 leading
c i t i e s shows the folio-wing p r i n c i p a l changes f o r the week ended August 21: Increases
of $68,000,000 i n holdings of "Other s e c u r i t i e s " , 694,000,000 i n r e s e r v e balances
with Federal Reserve Banks, and $167,000,000 i n demand-deposits-adjusted.
Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l and a g r i c u l t u r a l loans decreased $12,000,000 i n Hew
York City and $6,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member b a n k s .
Holdings of United S t a t e s Treasury b i l l s i n c r e a s e d $14,000,000 i n Hex? York
City and $2,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of United S t a t e s
Government bonds decreased $20,000,000 at a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of
"Other s e c u r i t i e s " i n c r e a s e d $66,000,000 i n Hew York City and $68,000,000 a t a l l
r e p o r t i n g member banks.
Demand d e p o s i t s - a d j u s t e d i n c r e a s e d $112,000,000 i n New York City, $21,000,000
i n t h e Chicago d i s t r i c t , $13,000,000 i n the Cleveland d i s t r i c t , $10,000,000 i n the
Boston d i s t r i c t , and $167,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Time d e p o s i t s
i n c r e a s e d $10,000,000.
Deposits c r e d i t e d t o domestic banks decreased $8,000,000 i n t h e Cleveland
d i s t r i c t , $6,000,000 i n New York City, and $28,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g number
bonks. Deposits c r e d i t e d t o f o r e i g n banks decreased $12,000,000 i n Hew York City.
