CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES
The Condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading
cities shows the following principal changes for the week ended August 13:
Decreases of #94 million in loans adjusted, $507 million in U, S, Government
securities, $276 million in U. S, Government deposits, and $179 million in
demand deposits adjusted.
Commercial and industrial loans increased $65 million at all reporting
member banks. Changes according to industry appear in another press release.
Loans to brokers and dealers for purchasing or carrying U, S. Government
and other securities decreased $181 million,
Holdings of Treasury bills decreased $319 million of which $256 million

$121 million and Treasury certificates of indebtedness decreased $102 million.
, . % a n d deposits adjusted decreased $128 million in the New York District, $65 million in the Atlanta District, and $54 million in the Boston

they increased $66 million in the San Francisco District, and
$51 million each in the St, Louis and Kansas City Districts, Time deposits
decreased #12 million.
Borrowings from Federal Reserve Banks decreased $114 million and

increased $92 million. Loans to banks increased $19
