For immediate release C01TBITI0IT OF WEEKLY REPORTI1IG MEMBER HAMS H LEADING- CITIES The Federal Reserve Board's condition, statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading, c i t i e s on August 5 shows decreases f o r the week of $32,000,000 in t o t a l loans and investments, $59,000,000 in net demand deposits, $45,000,000 in time deposits, $60,000,000 in Government deposits, and $80,000<000 in reserves with the F. R. "banks, and an increase of $3,000,000 in borrowings from the Federal reserve "banks. Loans on s e c u r i t i e s declined $35,000,000 at reporting "banks in the New York d i s t r i c t and $32,000,000 at a l l reporting "banks, and increased $6,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t . "All other" loans increased $77,000,000 in the Hew York d i s t r i c t , $9,000,000 in the Philadelphia d i s t r i c t and $52,000,000 at a l l reporting "banks, and declined $19,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t . Total holdings of U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s declined $16,000,000, whilo holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s declined $30,000,000 in the Hew York d i s t r i c t , $6,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $36,000,000 a t a l l reporting "banks. Borrowings of weekly reporting member "banks from Federal reserve banks aggregated $58,000,000 on August 5, the principal changes for the week being an increase of $7,000,000 at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and a reduction of $8,000,000 at San Francisco.
