CONDITION OF iTESICLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING- CITIES
The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of weekly reporting member "banlcs in leading c i t i e s on April 2 shows increases f o r the week of
$77,000,000 in loans and investments, $123,,000,000 in net demand deposits and
$35,000,000 in "borrowings from Federal reserve "banks, and a decrease of
921,000,000 in Government deposits.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s increased $64,000,000 at a l l reporting hanks,
$103,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t and $6,000,000 in the Philadelphia d i s t r i c t , and declined $22,000,000 in the Cleveland d i s t r i c t , $20,000,000 in the
Chicago d i s t r i c t and $7,000,000 in the San Francisco d i s t r i c t . "All other"
loans declined $32,000,000 a t a l l reporting "banks and $13,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t , and increased $8,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t .
Holdings of U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s increased $5,000,000 at a l l r e porting "banks, while holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s increased $9,000,000 in the
New York d i s t r i c t , $7,000,000 in the Cleveland d i s t r i c t and $38,000,000 a t
a l l reporting "banks.
The principal changes in borrowings from the Federal reserve banks for
the week were increases of $18,000,000 at the Federal Reserve Bank of New
York and $12,000,000 a t San Francisco.

member banks, together with changes during the week and the year ending
April 2, 1930, follows:
