CONDITION OF VfeEKLlf REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES
the condition statement of weekly reporting member banks i n leading c i t i e s
shows the following p r i n c i p a l changes f o r t h e week ended April 16: Increases of

deposits a d j u s t e d , and Si,762 million i n U. S. Government d e p o s i t s .
Commercial and i n d u s t r i a l loans decreased $2 million at a l l reporbing member
banks; t h e p r i n c i p a l changes were decreases of #61 million i n New York City and #13
million i n t h e Cleveland D i s t r i c t , and increases of S39 million i n the San Francisco D i s t r i c t , $17 million i n t h e Dallas D i s t r i c t , and $13 m i l l i o n i n t h e
Minneapolis D i s t r i c t . Changes by industry appear i n another p r e s s r e l e a s e .
Holdings of Treasury b i l l s increased $103 million i n New York City and a t o t a l
of $147 m i l l i o n at a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of Treasury notes increased
i n a l l d i s t r i c t s , l a r g e l y r e f l e c t i n g the purchase of a new i s s u e . Holdings of
Mother** s e c u r i t i e s increased $157 million of which $79 million was i n New York City,
Demand deposits adjusted increased $330 m i l l i o n i n the New York D i s t r i c t outside of New York City, $312 million i n t h e Chicago D i s t r i c t , $272 million i n the
San Francisco D i s t r i c t , $96 m i l l i o n i n the Kansas City D i s t r i c t , and $84 million i n
the Philadelphia D i s t r i c t , but they decreased $150 million i n New York City. Time
deposits increased $65 million i n the San Francisco D i s t r i c t and a t o t a l of
$149 million a t a l l reporting member banks.
