The c o n d i t i o n statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks i n 101 l e a d i n g
c i t i e s shows t h e f o l l o w i n g p r i n c i p a l changes f o r t h e week ended A p r i l 171 I n c r e a s e s
of $37,000,000 i n commercial, i n d u s t r i a l , and a g r i c u l t u r a l l o a n s , $118,000,000 i n
r e s e r v e b a l a n c e s with F e d e r a l Reserve banks, $190,000,000 i n demand deposits-adjusted,
and $136,000,000 i n d e p o s i t s c r e d i t e d t o donestic banks.
Connercial, i n d u s t r i a l , and a g r i c u l t u r a l l o a n s i n c r e a s e d $21,000,000 i n New
York City and $37,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g neriber banks. Loans t o brokers and
d e a l e r s i n s e c u r i t i e s decreased $10,000,000 i n New York City,
Holdings of United S t a t e s Treasury b i l l s i n c r e a s e d $19,000,000 i n t h e
Chicago d i s t r i c t and $21,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks, and decreased
$10,000,000 i n New York City, Holdings of Treasury n o t e s i n c r e a s e d $19,000,000 in
Hew York City. Holdings of United S t a t e s Government bonds i n c r e a s e d $36,000,000 i n
Hew York City and $25,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of o b l i g a t i o n s guaranteed by t h e United S t a t e s Government i n c r e a s e d $24,000,000 i n Hew York
City, Holdings of "Other s e c u r i t i e s " i n c r e a s e d $10,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member
banks.
Demand deposits—adjusted increased$313.,000,000 i n t h e Chicago d i s t r i c t ,
$39,000,000 i n Hew York C i t y , $24,000,000 i n the Hew York d i s t r i c t o u t s i d e New York
C i t y , $16,000,000 i n t h e Sen Francisco d i s t r i c t , and $190,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g
member banks. Time d e p o s i t s decreased $49,000,000 i n Hew York City and $48,000,000
a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks.
Deposits c r e d i t e d t o domestic banks i n c r e a s e d $85,000,000 i n Hew York C i t y ,
$15,000,000 i n t h e Cleveland d i s t r i c t and $136,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member
banks, and decreased $21,000,000 i n t h e Chicago d i s t r i c t . Deposits c r e d i t e d t o
