COFDITIOF OF WEEICLY REPORTING MEMBER BAMS III LEADIFG CITIES
The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member
banks in l e a d i n g c i t i e s on April 5 shows decreases f o r the week of $181,000*000
in loans and investments, $65,000,000 i n net demand d e p o s i t s , $24,000,000 in time
d e p o s i t s and $71,000,000 i n Government d e p o s i t s , and an i n c r e a s e of $8,000,000 i n
borrowings from Federal reserve banks.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s declined $70,000,000 a t r e p o r t i n g member banks i n the Few
York d i s t r i c t , $13,000,000 in the Boston d i s t r i c t and $106,000,000 at a l l r e p o r t ing member banks. "All o t h e r " loans declined $20,000,000 i n the Few York d i s t r i c t ,
$7,000,000 i n the San Francisco d i s t r i c t , $6,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t and
$1+5,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
Holdings of United S t a t e s Government-.securities d e c l i n e d $13,000,000 in the
l?ew York d i s t r i c t , $12,000,000 in the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $38,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks. Holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s incre ase d $6,000,000 i n the Few York
d i s t r i c t and $8,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
Borrowings of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks from Federal r e s e r v e banks aggregated $313,000,000 on April 6, the p r i n c i p a l change f o r the week being an i n c r e a s e
of $8,000,000 a t the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.
