CONDITION 05 FEDERAL RESERVE BAMS Largely as a r e s u l t of trie Treasury's f i n a n c i a l operations, the consolidated statement oi condition of the Federal reserve banks on September 15, made public oy tne Federal Reserve Board, snows a decline of $45,700,000 i n holdings of tiisf 1 ° ^ t ^ n ' 1 b ^ S - a n d i n c r e a s e e o f $162,000,000 in member bank reserve deposits and Z±T3,TUO,UUO in Government s e c u r i t i e s , holdings of which on September 15 i n cluded 3-192,000,000 of temporary c e r t i f i c a t e s issued by the Treasury to tne Federal reserve banks pending the c o l l e c t i o n of the quarterly installment of taxes. i-ederal reserve note c i r c u l a t i o n declined $22,500,000, while cash reserves i n creased $3,100,000 and non-reserve cash $6,900,000. The New York bank shows a decrease of $46,200,000 in discount holdings, San j r a j x i s c o a d e c l i n e of $9,900,000, Minneapolis $5,900,000, and Chicago $5,500,000. Cleveland and Atlanta reserve banks, discount holdings increased 5°0,°C0 each, at Boston $3,700,000, and at Philadelphia $3,400,000. Open-market •acceptance holdings of the New York bank declined $5,400,000, while those of Boston increased $3,600,000, the System as a whole showing a reduction of $3,500,000 i n t h i s item. Total holdings of Treasury notes were $73*000,000 below l a s t week's t o t a l , while holdings of 0. S. bonds increased $3,600,000 and of Treasury c e r t i f i c a t e s 5,10^,uOO, Of the increase i n the l a t t e r item, $132,000,000 represents temporary c e r t i f i c a t e s issued by the Treasury to the New York bank and $60,000,000 to six other reserve banks pending the quarterly c o l l e c t i o n of taxes. All of tns Federal reserve banks repcrt a smaller v-lume cf Federal reserve x t e s in c i r c u l a t i o n , with the exception cf Richmond and Dallas wiich shew a t o t a l increase of $1,200,000, the principal decreases being: New York $12,400,000 and San Francisco $4,100,000.
