CONDITION OF .FEDERAL m;SERVE BANKS The consolidated statement of condition of the Federal :reso:rve banks on October 15, made public by the Federal Reserve Board, shows further·increRSe s of $21,900, OCO in holdings of acceptances purchased in open market and of $17, 300;000 in Go•1ernment securities, together with a net liquidation of $3,300,000 in hold.ings of discounted bills. As a result of these changes total earning assets rose to $i,060,900.000, or $36,100,000 above the amount held a week ago, Federal res!':rve note circulation increased by $9,800,000 and total deposits by $2~ 700,000, while cash reserves declined by $11,000,000. The New York reserve bank reports a reduction of $9,600,000 in its holdings of discounted bills, Dallas a r~ducticn of $1,700,000, while the Cleveland and Richmond banks report additions of $6,600,000 and $1,)300,000 :r-:espt.Jctively to theirholdings. The remaining banks show relatively smaller thanges in holdings of discounted bills f~r the week. Ho).dings of paper secured by Governmdl t obligations declin-:d by $6001 000 t 0 $109 19001 000. Larger holdings of acceptances purchased in open market were reported by all Federal reserve banks except Richmond and M:in:r:Eapolis, the Ftoderal ~eserve bank. of New York showing an increase of $9,600)000, Boston an increase of $6,100,000 ard Philadelphia an increase of $2,100,000. The System•s holdings of U. s. C,;;lrtificat.as of inclebtedness increased by $13,700,000, of Treasury notes by $3,000,000, anl of U. s. bonds by $6Qo;;ooo. A total increase of $16,ooo,ooo in Government security holdings is shown for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. All Federal reserve banks report a larger volume of Fed0ral rl3serve notes in circulation, except New York, which shows a decline of $2,000,000. Th..; Philadelphia bank reports the largest increase - $3,400,QOO, Boston shows an increase of $3,200,000, and Richmond of $1,900,000.
