CONDITION OF FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS The d a i l y average volume of F e d e r a l r e s e r v e bank c r e d i t o u t s t a n d i n g d u r i n g the week ending October 12, as r e p o r t e d by the F e d e r a l r e s e r v e banks, was $2,234,000,000, a d e c r e a s e of $0,000,000 compared with the p r e c e d i n g week and an i n c r e a s e of $198,000,000 compared w i t h the corresponding week i n 1931. On October 12 t o t a l r e s e r v e bank c r e d i t amounted to $2,234,000,000, a decrease of $71000,000 f o r the week. This decrease corresponds with a d e c r e a s e of $38,000,000 in member bank r e s e r v e b a l a n c e s and an i n c r e a s e of $7,000,000 in monet a r y gold s t o c k , o f f s e t i n p a r t by i n c r e a s e s of $2,000,000 i n money i n c i r c u l a t i o n and $25,000,000 i n unexpended c a p i t a l f u n d s , noranember d e p o s i t s , e t c . , and a d e c r e a s e of $11,000,000 i n Treasury currency, a d j u s t e d . Holdings of b i l l s d i s c o u n t e d decreased $5,000,000 a t the F e d e r a l Reserve Bank of Mew York, $3,000,000 a t Richmond and $5,000,000 a t a l l F e d e r a l r e s e r v e b a n k s . The System's h o l d i n g s of b i l l s bought i n open market and of United S t a t e s bonds were p r a c t i c a l l y unchanged, while h o l d i n g s of United S t a t e s Treasury n o t e s decreased $6,000,000 and those of Treasury c e r t i f i c a t e s and b i l l s i n c r e a s e d $6,000,000.
